2 Car Fires In 12 Hours Draw Firefighters To I-93 In Medford: Photo
Firefighters battled flames during both the morning and evening commutes in the Medford area on Monday.
MEDFORD, MA — A fiery three-car crash on I-93 in Medford caused no injuries but kept firefighters busy Monday afternoon, according to State Police and the Medford Firefighters Local 1032 union.
Taking place just after 5 p.m., the incident was the second to result in a car fire in the area in less than 12 hours after a separate car fire around 6 a.m.
The first of Monday's fires burned on the northbound side of I-93, with Boston 25’s Catherine Parrotta reporting crews on scene between the roadway's intersections with Route 60 and the Fellsway around 6:15 a.m.

A State Police spokesperson told Patch crews first heard reports of the incident roughly 15 minutes earlier. The fire involved a single car driven by a man from Amherst, according to police. The man avoided injury, police said.
The second fire broke out just after 5 p.m. on I-93 after a crash involving three cars driven by a 27-year-old Lynnfield man, a 52-year-old Tewksbury man and a 31-year-old Gilmanton, NH woman respectively.

Police said one of the cars caught fire.
There were no injuries reported, State Police said.
Photos shared from the scene showed smoke billowing from the burning car on Monday afternoon, ultimately leaving behind badly charred vehicle remains.
