Medford High School Names New Principal

MEDFORD, MA – Medford High School has named Marta Cabral its new principal for the 2023-2024 school year, Superintendent Marice Edouard-Vincent announced over Facebook on Monday.

The search committee reviewed 16 applications for the position and recommended three candidates as finalists.

Cabral is currently a house principal at Malden High School, a position she has held since 2019. She has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Literature from Worcester State College and two master’s degrees: one in educational leadership from the University of Massachusetts-Boston and the other in multicultural and bilingual education from the Universidad de Alcala in Madrid, Spain.

Cabral is fluent in Spanish and American Sign Language and said growing up in a multicultural and multilingual family shaped her educational vision, according to the superintendent’s announcement.

“All students can achieve their academic potential when encouraged and supported by strong adults who model perseverance and determination,” Cabral said in the announcement.

As principal of Medford High School, she hopes to “create and foster a culture where students feel secure, welcomed, respected and academically motivated,” the announcement said.

Cabral will begin her role as principal on July 1.
