Medford’s Main Street To Face Temporary Detour, Lane Closures
The temporary detour will be installed due to paving and pavement marking at the intersection.
MEDFORD, MA – Intermittent and temporary lane closures on Main Street at the intersection of South Street in Medford are set to begin on April 24 and continue through May 26, MassDOT officials announced Friday.
The temporary detour will be installed due to paving and pavement marking at the intersection.
Eversource construction crews will install hot mix asphalt (HMA) and temporary pavement markings at the intersection as part of an Eversource Energy state highway access permit project.
Southbound Main Street Work Zone:

- Southbound approach will be diverted to the northbound side.
- Northbound side will be detoured as follows:
- Left on Main Street
- Right on Summer Street
- Right on Winthrop Street
- Right on High Street (terminating on Main Street)
- Eastbound off-ramp to Mystic Valley Parkway will be closed and detoured to the Mystic Avenue off-ramp.
Northbound Main Street Work Zone:
- Northbound side will be detoured as follows:
- Left on Main Street
- Right on Summer Street
- Right on Winthrop Street
- Right on High Street (terminating on Main Street)
- Eastbound off ramp to Mystic Valley Parkway will be closed and detoured to the Mystic Avenue off-ramp.
MassDOT encourages drivers to reduce speed and use caution while approaching and traveling through or around the work zones and to allow for extra time through this area.
