Medford School Committee, Teachers Union Reach Tentative Contract

MEDFORD, MA — The Medford School Committee and Medford Teachers Association (MTA) have reached a tentative contract as of Friday, Oct 14, the MTA said in an update.
The MTA said the agreement means that they will suspend work to rule immediately and will not gather at City Hall on Monday, Oct. 17 or deliver a Vote of No Confidence at the School Committee meeting.
In addition, there will be a member informational meeting over Zoom on Monday at 3:15 p.m., link to be provided, and further and a ratification vote on the proposed MOA will beheld in person in the Caron Theater at Medford High School Oct. 24.

Earlier this month, the Department of Labor Relations determined that negotiations between the Medford School Committee and the MTA must continue without mediation and asked the two parties to report back on their progress by Nov. 4.
That decision came a month after the Medford School Committee decided that negotiations with the Medford Teachers Association (MTA) had reached an impasse.
