Medford Sets First Pride Festival For June

The city is asking the public to help plan the inaugural festival. Here's how to apply.

MEDFORD, MA — Medford will host its first Pride Festival this June and is asking members of the public to join its planning committee, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced Tuesday.

The committee, chaired by newly hired Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Frances Nwajei, will put on the festival, which celebrates and honors Medford's LGBTQ community.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for people of all backgrounds to get involved in planning a truly historic event in Medford," Lungo-Koehn said in a statement. "We raised the PRIDE flag last year, but recognize that to celebrate this vibrant community requires a greater and more thoughtful effort—and I know this festival will be an amazing event for the entire city."
