New Medford Firefighter Graduates Firefighting Academy

Michael Endicott wrapped up his studies at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy with a graduation ceremony on Monday.

MEDFORD, MA — Medford celebrated its newest firefighter on Monday with the graduation of recruit Michael Endicott.

The Medford Firefighters Local 1032 announced the milestone on social media.

Endicott is one of 24 firefighters who graduated as part of the latest class of recruits moving through the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy at the Department of Fire Services’ headquarters in Stow.

Graduation ceremonies honored graduates from fire departments in Boxborough, Chelsea, Douglas, Eastham, Hingham, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynnfield, Medford, Nantucket, Natick, North Attleborough, Northborough, Reading, Walpole, Watertown and Winthrop.

“Please join us in welcoming Medford's newest Firefighter, Michael Endicott, to the greatest job in the world,” Medford’s Local 1032 said this week.

The state firefighting academy combines classroom training with hands-on experience fighting fires in controlled fire conditions.

Program graduates earn a handful of certifications through the program to begin their careers as firefighters.
