October.... colors changing even as we hope for an easy winter. To soon to hope? The way the weather has been this past year winter is unpredictable, so we hope.
October 4th. was our first planned excursion and we headed for Londonderry New Hampshire to attend a Red Hat Fiesta. We were joined by seventy five Hatters from all over New England. What a sight to see.

There were Red Hats and sombreros, and clothes of many happy colors.

Pedro Rodriguez was the D.J for the afternoon and he kept us happy and moving.

This was not your quiet party with 75 old ladies; oh no my friend....it was a Fiesta and we enjoyed every minute of it.
There were gift boxes to buy tickets for and a 50/50 drawing at the end of the day.
Two of our members went home with baskets of goodies.
The hour drive on such a lovely day reminded us how lucky we are to be able to enjoy ourselves with the company of so many other Hatters.

October 5th and it was Baseball...The Oldye Timers Game in Newbury.
The game is played with rules for 1864 base ball. The pitcher throws underhand and it is only 45 feet from home base (as opposed to the 60 feet,6 inches used today).
There is only one umpire and back in the day it was usually a prominent member of the community, dressed in top hat and long dress coat.
Today the umpire was in a uniform similar to the players uniforms but as white shirt and black pants.

The atmosphere is pleasant. People bring blankets and lunches planning on spending the day for three games today.
We stayed for the first game between Newbury Clam diggers and the Lynn Live Oaks.

Batter up

and heading home.

Third Inning score,Newport went on to won..11-5 at the end.

Still friends acknowledging each others team at the end; as the umpire stretched his legs to do it again for the next two games.
We headed out to the Sylvan Street Grille in Peabody for lunch and leftovers.

You got it! Another great Red Hat Day.
