Robot Nor’Easter Storms into Melrose
World class field of robots enthrall members of the community

By: Constance Yang
Last Saturday on the 20th, 15 robots from all across New England arrived in Melrose to compete in our new event, the Nor’Easter. Distinct from the standard FRC games, Nor’Easter had four pre-formed alliances staying together throughout the day.
The competition was fierce, with alliances scoring up to 294 points, on par with scores seen at Einstein’s in the World Championship! In the end, Alliance R.O.B.O.G.O.A.T.s ², enlisting Gompei and the HERD (190), Nashoba Robotics (1768), TJ ² (88) and IBOTS (2370) took the win after intense battles against our other alliances, BioMechanical Liger Pirates, UnderCogs United and T w/o CN (Toucans).
We’d like to thank our sponsors: Gray’s Appliance, LeadingEdge Real Estate, Reading Cooperative Bank, NUTRONS, an Anonymous Benefactor, Red Hawk Robotics and RHR parents for sponsoring this amazing event. We’d also want thank our food sponsors: Mexico Lindo, Bangkok Bar Shi, La Qchara, Bohemian Coffeehouse & Bakery, Sweet Spot Bakery, Comella’s, Sante Fe, Big Fin Poke, Caffe Nero, Rising Eagle. Last but not least, our wonderful volunteers at Nor’Easter, without your efforts, Nor’Easter would not have been possible.
