Stressing Over Valentine's Day? Quincy Named Hot Spot For Singles
For those feeling lonely on Valentine's Day, turns out you're actually surrounded by plenty of other singles in Quincy and Boston.
QUINCY, MA —If you're dreading the prospect of another Valentine's Day dining on a feast fit for one, you may be living in the wrong place.
Using U.S. Census Bureau data, Solitaire Bliss — which operates a website for people who like to play the one-person card game — compiled the list of suburbs with the most singles, including breakdowns for the most single men, most single women, and most divorced people.
Overall, Massachusetts ranks 10th in the number of single residents. Quincy doesn't rank in the top ten but still stands pretty close at 48.8 percent.

- Euclid, Ohio (Cleveland): 62 percent
- Hoboken, New Jersey (New York City): 58.7 percent
- Lakewood, Ohio (Cleveland) 58 percent
- Paradise, Nevada (Las Vegas): 58 percent
- Hackensack, New Jersey (New York City): 57.6 percent
- Cicero, Illinois (Chicago): 57.2 percent
- Hawthorne, California (Los Angeles): 57 percent
- Long Beach, California (Los Angeles): 56.9 percent
- Southfield, Michigan (Detroit): 56.1 percent
- Waltham, Massachusetts (Boston): 55.3 percent
Several of those suburbs also got mentioned in rankings for the most single men and women, as well as in the percentage of people who are divorced.
Boston was ranked 8th in the number of single women alone, and fifth for the most amount of singles in general.
The big cities with the most singles are:
- Detroit: 70.8 percent single
- Cleveland: 68.7 percent
- Atlanta: 67.6 percent
- Baltimore: 66.9 percent
- Boston: 65.8 percent
- Milwaukee, 65.4 percent
- New Orleans, 64.8 percent
- Philadelphia, 63.2 percent
- Memphis, Tennessee, 62.9 percent
- Minneapolis: 62.7 percent
If you're hoping to meet someone in the suburbs, try setting your dating app location to some other notable single suburbs close by.
The Miami suburbs of Hollywood and Hialeah took the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively, with the highest percentages of residents who are divorced. Overall, Florida ranks seventh among states for the percentage of residents who are divorced.
The rankings are based on 2019 Census Bureau data that show the percentage of people ages 18-65 who are single in all 50 states, the 50 largest cities, and 130 suburbs surrounding them.
