Route 28 Lane Closures In Somerville Start Soon
The lane closures are part of a $15.6 million project to perform bridge repairs along Route 28 between Cambridge and Somerville.
SOMERVILLE, MA – Left lane closures along the Route 28 southbound off-ramp to Washington Street in Somerville will begin March 29, Massachusetts Department of Transportation officials announced Wednesday.
Construction along Route 28 will run from late March through the end of April.
Beginning Wednesday morning, a MassDOT contractor will begin a left lane closure along the off-ramp and a no parking restriction from Prospect Hill Avenue to Medford Street in order to replace guardrail along Route 28 southbound, officials said.

The work zone and no parking restriction will remain in place for the duration of the replacement.
The construction is part of a $15.6 million project to perform bridge repairs, paving and other related work on over a mile of Monsignor O’Brien/McGrath Highway Route 28 between Cambridge and Somerville.
