MassDOT Holding Meeting On McGrath Boulevard Project

The City of Somerville wants to simplify the highway's overpass and make it more accessible.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced it will be hosting a Public Informational Meeting about the proposed McGrath Highway Roadway Reconstruction Plan on Tuesday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m.

The virtual meeting invites the Somerville and Cambridge community to attend and will provide an update on the project, which has the goal of replacing the elevated McGrath Overpass between Broadway and Third Street in Cambridge on Route 28 with a ground-level boulevard and connect the city’s eastern side with the western side. It also includes safety improvements, increased green space, physical separation of bicycles and pedestrians from vehicles in certain places.

In January, Somerville received a $43 million federal grant to assist in the effort.
