New Detail Emerges About 2024 Green Line Derailment
The incident has been nationally investigated for the last year.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The National Transportation Safety Board has released dozens of new documents regarding the investigation into an MBTA Green Line train derailment that took place last year on Oct. 1.
The documents include multi-paged interviews with various employees of the MBTA, as well as operators on the train that crashed. In one interview, a train operator admitted to not paying attention to the speedometer at the time of the derailment. The train was reportedly supposed to be going 10 miles-per-hour, however it is believed it was going more than three times faster than it was supposed to at the time. According to the NTSB, the crash took place in Somerville, which contradicts original beliefs that the incident happened in Cambridge.
More information is slated to be released in the future.
