Somerville High School: Plan for New Building Advances
Members of the school committee approved a plan for a new Somerville High School building.

SOMERVILLE, MA - Officials decided the new Somerville High School will be built around the existing field house and war memorial building, Wicked Local reported. The school's historical 1895 structure will remain standing and will be used by the city.
Members of the city’s High School Building Committee voted unanimously for the layout Monday and the next steps will be to begin looking at designs created by architects, Wicked Local reported.
A more detailed preferred option will be submitted to the state Massachusetts School Building Authority on June 2.

The selected plan has a relatively condensed building that will allow for more outdoor open space and could have a "campus-like" feel, Wicked Local reported.
The next public meeting to discuss the new high school will be on April 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Somerville High Auditorium.
