Somerville High School Senior Qualifies For 2022 Open Championship

SOMERVILLE, MA — Somerville High School senior and University of Rhode Island (URI) commit Aidan O’Donovan has qualified for the Mass Open.
Aidan O’Donovan qualified alongside Coventry’s Brian Owens and Wanumetonomy assistant pro Nick Jagoe. O’Donovan and Jagoe posted two-over 74s, while Owens posted a four-over 76 at LaBaron Hills Country Club on Wednesday to advance to the Mass Open.
After making the turn at four-over 40, O’Donovan eagled the par-5 tenth hole, then followed up with birdie on 12 and 14 to get back to even par for the day. He closed with bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes to shoot 74.

The 2022 Mass Open will be held from June 8 to 10 at Longmeadow Country Club.
In addition to qualifying for the Mass Open, O’Donovan and his partner, Joseph Lenane, advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Four-Ball Championship in Alabama this week.

To advance to match play, O’Donovan and Lenane posted a pair of back-to-back 66s to finish nine-under overall and in a tie for 15th.
The pair were seeded 23rd in the tournament and were scheduled to face tenth seeded Aaron Pounds and Jack Usner on Monday, May 16 at 8:48 a.m.
