Somerville Nonprofit Receives $150K Cummings Grant

FORGE, a Somerville nonprofit that helps startups with physical products prepare them for manufacturing, was selected from 630 applicants.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A Somerville nonprofit was one of 150 nonprofits to share $30 million total through the Cummings Foundation’s major annual grant program.

FORGE, a nonprofit that helps startups with physical products prepare them for manufacturing, will receive $150,000 over the next three years. It was selected from a total of 630 applicants.

The Cummings $30 Million Grant Program primarily supports Massachusetts nonprofits that are based in and serve Middlesex, Essex, and Suffolk counties.

This is FORGE’s first grant from the Cummings Foundation. The grant will enable the nonprofit to maintain and grow its support for startups and manufacturers in Middlesex, Essex, and Suffolk.

“We’re honored to receive this grant which will help us continue to educate, support, and make connections between members of the regional innovation and manufacturing ecosystems,” Laura Teicher, FORGE executive director, said in a news release.
