Somerville School Committee Begins Search For New Superintendent
The search comes after former Superintendent Mary Skipper was chosen as the next superintendent of the Boston Public Schools in June.
SOMERVILLE, MA — The Somerville School Committee is beginning the search for a new superintendent by forming a Superintendent Screening Committee and is currently in need of volunteers.
Three individuals - a parent/guardian, an educator, and a school administrator, all from the Somerville Public School district - are needed to serve on the committee. These rolls will require a minimum commitment of 30 hours in meetings and work from November 2022 through approximately February 2023.
Members of the Screening Committee will be required to be available during the evenings of Monday, Nov. 28, 2022 and Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023 in addition to other dates to be determined. The interest form will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

The district said there will be multiple opportunities for public engagement throughout the process regardless of who is selected for the committee. Updates to the search process will be provided here.
