'Suspicious Item' Shuts Down Red Line at Davis Square Station

Buses were replacing Red Line trains between Harvard Square and Alewife, according to the MBTA.

Update, 12: 10 p.m., Tuesday: Red Line service has resumed between Alewife and Harvard Square, though the subway line is experiencing minor delays, according to the MBTA, which posted on Twitter.

Buses replaced Red Line trains Tuesday morning between Harvard Square and Alewife due to police activity at Davis Square Station, according to the MBTA.

At about 11:10 a.m., the MBTA Transit Police posted to Twitter that officers were investigating a "suspicious item" at Davis Square Station.

The Red Line was experiencing significant delays as a result, the MBTA posted on Twitter.
