Vandalized Photos of Black Harvard Professors Spark Investigation
Tape was placed over the faces of several black law professors at the university.

Harvard University police are seeking answers after students discovered black tape over the photographs of multiple black professors.
The tape was placed “over some faculty portraits” outside a lecture hall at the school’s Wasserstein Hall, Michelle Deakin, of Harvard’s media relations department, said in a statement to the Boston Globe.

In an email to the school’s law community, Dean Martha Minow said she was “saddened and angered” by the act. Minow also held a meeting with law students and staff to discuss Thursday’s startling discovery.
Students and other faculty members were very surprised and outraged to see the tape placed over the faces of the law professors.

“You see things like that and it hurts you,” Leland Shelton, president of the school’s Black Law Student Association, told the newspaper.
Police are looking into the matter at this time. They say the investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
