2. MAY FLOWERS: Join The Discovery Museums at 177 Main St. in Acton as they explore the inner workings of flowers. Dissect a flower and create a mini flower journal to take home and use as you observe the flowers in your backyard. Cost is $11. Class starts at 1:30 p.m.

3. SUDBURY SOCIAL TWEETUP: Two residents of Sudbury, Bob Cargill and Phil Hollows, will be hosting their 21st Sudbury Social Tweetup today at Bistro 20 in Sudbury from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The purpose of this networking event is to bring together business people, marketers and professionals who live or work in Sudbury and the surrounding communities who want to meet others from the area and learn more about social media such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube and blogs.
Bob and Phil host the Sudbury Social Tweetup on the last Thursday of each month. At each Tweetup, an informal discussion is held about different social media-related topics and issues.

4. ODD HOLIDAYS HELD TODAY: Today is Water a Flower Day. Sure, we know that this day reads Water "a" Flower (singular) Day. It clearly indicates that a flower should be watered. But, in today's world of equal rights and non-discrimination regulations, how can you single out one particular flower to water? Even if you can decide upon a certain flower, wouldn't the rest of your flowers get upset and file a class action lawsuit?
- 1431 — Joan of Arc was burned at the stake as a heretic.
- 1536 — King Henry VIII of England married his 3rd wife, Jane Seymour, 11 days after he had his 2nd wife, Anne Boleyn, executed.
- 1911 — The first Indianapolis 500 was won by Ray Harroun.
- 1922 — The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., was dedicated by Chief Justice William Howard Taft.
- 1998 — An earthquake in Northern Afghanistan (and subsequent aftershocks) killed an estimated 5,000 and injured at least 1,500. A quake on Feb. 4 in the same area had killed about 2,300.
