Grassroots Group to Host Educational Public Forum on Gun Violence at Lincoln-Sudbury

Citizens for Sensible Gun Policy, a grassroots group of Sudbury-area residents, will host a public educational forum Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.

The forum entitled “Gun Violence in America: How can we effect meaningful change?” is co-sponsored by Lincoln-Sudbury Adult Education and will be moderated by Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian.  The forum is open to residents from across Massachusetts.

Wednesday’s event will feature presentations from Dr. David Hemenway and Dr. Michael Hirsh prior to a question and answer session to be moderated by Sheriff Koutoujian. Dr. Hemenway is a nationally renowned expert on gun violence, the author of “Private Guns, Public Health” and a professor at the Harvard University School of Public Health, while Dr. Hirsh is a pediatric trauma surgeon at UMass Medical, the acting Commissioner of Public Health for the City of Worcester and the leader of the gun take back program “Goods for Guns” in Worcester.

Dr. Michael Reinhorn, a founder of Citizens for Sensible Gun Policy, and Sheriff Koutoujian will offer opening remarks.  The presentations and opening remarks will be followed by a question and answer session to be moderated by Sheriff Koutoujian.
