HOPEsudbury Recognizes Sudbury Firefighters with Gift

Here are 5 things to know about Sudbury today.

1. HOPEsudbury recently donated a supply of high-quality, firefighting gloves to the Sudbury Fire Department.

The gift is part of HOPEsudbury’s efforts to recognize and acknowledge the remarkable contributions of First Responders.

HOPEsudbury was established in 2001 following  the tragic events of Sept. 11. Initial fundraising efforts supported New York City firefighters from Engine 9 Ladder 6, one of the first fire houses to respond to calls for help at the World Trade Center.

2. Sudbury fans of Elin Hilderbrand are in for a special treat Thursday, Sept. 12, when the beach-book superstar makes a personal appearance at Goodnow Library.

Hilderbrand’s stories of life, love and heartbreak on Nantucket have a strong following in Sudbury, where many residents are frequent visitors to the resort island. She will discuss her latest work, “Beautiful Day,” which focuses on two families who come to the island to celebrate a wedding – following a playbook prepared by the bride’s late mother. “Beautiful Day” is currently No. 7 on The New York Times hardcover fiction best sellers list.
