Mass DOT Takes Over Landham Road Intersection Project
State takes over design process.

Sudbury Town Manager announced during the June 4 Board of Selectmen meeting the state is taking over a project to make one of the town's most dangerous intersections safer.
Mass DOT is now in charge of the Landham Road intersection project, which, according to bostonmpo.org, is .07 miles long.
"This is absolutely great news," Valente said.

Mass DOT decided to take over the project because of Sudbury's committment to the project, the time staffers have put in, and the effort and a lot of persistence and dollars from the town, Valente said.
"There's been a lot of public pressure, letters written to DOT and to (State Rep. Tom) Conroy," she said.

DOT will take over the design process, and the town's consultant hand over the plans that have been developed. A project review committee will join in some time this summer.
"We don't know what alternative they will come up with to solve some issues there," Valente said.
Last year, Don Cooke, an engineering consultant for Vanasse Hangen Brustlin of Watertown, said Sudbury should install a traffic signal at Landham Road.
All costs of the project will now be funded by the state.
DPW Director Bill Place will be the point of contact for the town.
"This has been very high on your goals and priority lists for a while," Valente told the Board.
