Days after authorities called off a search for a missing North Carolina woman who is originally from Sudbury, friends of Holly Fischer are back looking for her in an area where authorities picked up a cell phone signal last week.
According to WXII12, friends and authorities are in North Wilkesboro, N.C., where Fischer's parents have a home.
Dozens of people turned out Sunday to search for the 39-year-old.
Family members last saw Holly Fischer last Monday, when she left her parents' home in Knox County, Tenn., presumably for her home in Charlotte, N.C. The concerned parents then contacted Knox County authorities and reported her missing.
"We are deeply worried about her," Fischer's friend Larisa Markanian told The Huffington Post. "She would not have taken off without contacting one of us. Something is terribly wrong."
Using the cellphone data, police focused their search on Ashe and Wilkes counties. Local law enforcement officials, along with a North Carolina Highway Patrol helicopter unit, spent three days combing the area.
Authorities were unable to locate Fischer or her car and suspended the search late Friday.
Fischer graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 1992 and lived on Crescent Road.
