Sudbury Resident Named to Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School Board of Trustees

Tom Mulvehill says he'll work to make the prep school thrive.

Tom Mulvehill is a proud Sudbury father of three children.

He's also proud of the prep school two of them attend, Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School, and has been committed in numerous ways in making it better.

Because of that commitment, the school recently made Mulvehill its newest member of its Board of Trustees.

"It's a great school anchored by incredible teachers and administrators who tirelessly work on behalf of the students," he said. "I'm very proud and pleased they invited me."

"The invitation to join came out of the blue," he said. "But I've been actively involved with the school for a number of years. I got involved with marketing and communications, I'm active in panel discussions, and giving a parent's perspective of the school."

Mulvehill said the Board recognized it wanted more presentation from parents and other people who went through the school's process. Because he's been so actively involved, he was an easy choice.

"My vision is to help progress the school from doing to well to absolutely thriving," Mulvehill said. "We're meeting goals now, but want it to completely thrive."

Mulvehill is an application security professional with more than 25 years of combined product management, product marketing and development experience. He has worked with a wide range of customers to define and deliver new products for both start-up and large companies. For the past seven years, he has focused on application security and helping organizations develop secure web-based and mobile applications. Currently, he works for IBM as a senior product manager.

He earned an MBA from Bentley University and an MS in Information Systems from Northeastern University.

Chapel Hill-Chauncy-Hall School is a coeducational college preparatory school dedicated to teaching the way students learn. It's the unique teaching strategies that Mulvehill is most confident in.

"The school is dedicated to teaching the ways students learn. Some students understand instruction one way but not another," he said. "In public schools a teacher stands in front of a whiteboard or a blackboard and regurgitates something from text books. We use props, music ... it connects with all students at some level. It reinforces the instruction. The school is wildly successful with this."
