Traffic Alert: Closures on Pelham Island Bridge This Week
Plan your travel accordingly as the Pelham Island Bridge will be closed during certain periods this week.

The new, two-lane Pelham Island Road Bridge opened last December just in time for Santa to cross the Sudbury River on his annual ride through town.
Contractors worked to open the bridge before the worst of the winter weather isolated residents of Pelham Island, and succeeded in doing just that.
Still, there are some final housekeeping items that need to be completed, and those will lead to some closures of the bridge this week.

According to Gary Slep, a Wayland resident who has kept tabs on the bridge construction project, crews need to complete paving work on the bridge.
On Tuesday, April 16, the contractor plans to close the bridge from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (at the latest), according to Slep.

Assuming the weather cooperates, paving will be completed Tuesday and the bridge will be open to traffic Wednesday and Thursday. If the weather does not allow paving Tuesday, the bridge will be closed again on Wednesday and/or Thursday.
If paving occurs on Tuesday as scheduled, the bridge will again be closed on Friday from about 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for painting of white edge stripes. There will not be a center line on the bridge, Slep said. If the paving is delayed, it could also delay painting.
