Coyote Attack In Watertown Has Police Warning Residents

Watertown police are urging residents to be on the lookout after a pack of three coyotes attacked a dog over the weekend.

WATERTOWN, MA — Police are warning Watertown residents to be aware of an increased number of coyotes in the area after a dog on a walk with its owner was attacked Friday night.

The dog and owner were walking around Walnut Street when it was attacked by three coyotes, the Watertown Police department said in a statement.

Police noted a recent uptick in coyote sightings, specifically in the east end of Watertown and on bicycle paths.

"We are asking citizens to remain vigilant, especially those walking dogs in the area," police said in a Facebook post.

This comes just a day after a child was attacked by a coyote on a popular Provincetown beach.

Police did not release any information on the dog's condition.
