UPDATED: Three Alarm Fire on Pequossette Street Knocked Down

Neighboring towns providing mutual aid for three alarm fire.

Firefighters are battling a blaze at 37 Pequossette St., near North Beacon Street, after a three-story residential building caught fire there this afternoon around 2 p.m.

Fire crews from Cambridge, Lexington, Newton and surrounding towns are providing aid in battling the three-alarm fire. An engine from Boston was also on the scene.

  • As of 3:30 p.m. ash and heavy smoke are present in the area. The fire is largely out.
  • Firemen had to be taken out of the house because of interior collape
  • Firefighters fought most of the fire from outside, and used hoses to protect two neighboring homes.
  • N. Beacon St. is open and traffic is flowing, albeit slowly.
  • Flames were shooting out of the roof, mostly out of the back of the house around 3 p.m.
  • Firefighters at the scene said the house is believed to be a complete loss.
