Watertown Has a New Option for Medical Care with a Twist

Watertown has a new health care option featuring longer hours and affordable medical care.

Co-owners and husband and wife, Dr. Scharukh Jalisi and Moushmi Soleja, opened Doctors Express opened at 376 Arsenal Street last week and were joined by state and local elected officials, local business representatives at the ribbon cutting on June 5. It is one of several Doctors Express locations in the area.

Jalisi, the director of head and neck surgery at Boston Medical Center, and Soleja, a businesswoman, wanted to start a new model to deal with rising costs of health care.

“By providing higher quality health care at a lower cost, we believe we can help the entire health care delivery system better service patients by adding this essential urgent care component, which lifts the burden off of both primary care physicians and emergency rooms,” Jalisi said in an announcement. “More streamlined health care means more convenience for individuals and families, and much lower costs in the system overall.”

Doctors Express will have hours that are convenient for working families. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekend.

The cost of Doctors Express is about a quarter of going to an emergency room, Soleja said in an announcement.

“We offer affordable rates without sacrificing the quality of our health care. We wanted to open a Doctors Express because we believe in this model and look forward to serving the Watertown and neighboring communities,” Soleja said.

The center has modern medical equipment including digital X-ray imaging, as well as a full lab services, according to the announcement.

Doctors Express Watertown accepts most insurance.
