WAYLAND, MA — Wayland acting Superintendent Parry Graham will leave town before the start of July, which is when he's set to start a job as Lincoln's new superintendent, school officials said Thursday.

The Lincoln Public School Committee has now approved a three-year contract with Graham starting July 1. In Lincoln, Graham will oversee a K-8 district that also includes students from nearby Hanscom Air Force Base.

"We are confident that Graham will provide the high qualities of leadership, scholarship and community engagement that Lincoln Public Schools have come to depend on," Lincoln School Committee Chair John MacLachlan said in the news release. "He is known as a thoughtful, collaborative leader able to make tough decisions."

Graham was hired by Wayland in 2018 to become assistant superintendent under former superintendent Arthur Unobskey. He stayed in that role after the town hired Omar Easy in 2021 to take over for Unobskey.

The Wayland School Committee placed Easy on leave last month for yet-undisclosed reasons. Graham was elevated to become acting superintendent after that vote — just two days after the Lincoln School Committee voted to hire him on Feb. 7.

Graham is one of several Wayland school leaders who are either leaving or taking an extended leave. In the short term, the district will pursue hiring interim candidates for the roles before conducting searches for permanent candidates, officials have said.
