Selectmen Preview: Danforth Traffic, Town Meeting Warrant and More

The Board of Selectmen will convene at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

Fred Turkington provided the Board of Selectmen preview below.

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 in Wayland Town Building. To accommodate the schedule of individuals presented to the Selectmen and other committees, the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

After Chairman John Bladon reviews the meeting agenda for the viewing public, Selectmen will act to formally open the Annual Town Meeting Warrant. Town boards and commissions as well as citizens through petitions with at least 10 signatures, may submit articles through Jan. 15, 2013 at 4:30 p.m.

After receiving public comments, the board will hear a presentation by Assistant Town Administrator/Director of Human Resources John Senchyshyn and Director of Technology Leisha Simon on collaboration between the town and school department on IT services.

At 7 p.m., the town administrator will present the preliminary FY2014 annual operating budget requests of departments and committees.  Selectmen will review all department's requests in the selectmen's jurisdiction (except public safety and unclassified budgets).

At about 8:10 p.m., the chair of the Permanent Municipal Building Committee will share a status report on the work of the committee on the proposed DPW facility. Following the presentation on the facility program and cost estimation process, the Town Administrator will review financing models for the likely debt exclusion borrowing that will be proposed in the spring of 2013.

At 8:45 p.m., selectmen will consider the peer traffic review prepared by Kevin Dandrade of TEC for the proposed Danforth Green housing development on Old Connecticut Path. Roy Macdowell of Baystone Development will be present to discuss his mitigation proposal.

After considering the consent calendar and reviewing correspondence, Selectmen will then listen to the report of the town administrator, which will include approval of a revised vehicle policy to comply with the Green Communities Act and an update on future meeting agenda items. During Selectmen's Reports and Concerns, the board will discuss general items of concern and consider a request from Selectman Correia that the board consider issuing a letter to legislative leaders encouraging a delay in implementing the medical marijuana law.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room.
