On Sunday, Dec. 9, the center of Wayland will come alive for the annual holiday community celebration. From historical events, to shopping, to crafts at the library, check out the various events below:
Grout-Heard Open House
This was provided by the Wayland Historical Society
Come welcome in the holiday season Sunday afternoon, Dec. 9, when the Grout-Heard House Museum swings wide its doors for the Community Open House. Festivities will run from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Once again, Wayland Garden Club members, headed by Jane Daley and Anette Lewis, will transform the old rooms with holiday decorations. Again the Girl Scouts from all over town will make ornaments for the Stone Room alcove. There will be music by a string trio, by the Madrigals, and by the Bella Cappella. Sample homemade Christmas cookies at the tea table and greet old friends.

The Wayland Depot will be open from noon to 5 p.m., as part of the annual Wayland Center Community Celebration. Please stop by to do your holiday shopping and enjoy refreshments! We have beautiful handcrafted gifts such as pottery, scarves, jewelry, baby clothes, greeting cards and books, along with unique ornaments and holiday decorations. Your purchases will support worthy Wayland organizations and local artists. In 2012, we made donations to Wayland's Habitat for Humanity Project, Wayland Rail Trail, the Wayland Community Fund, and the Parmenter Food Pantry.
