Wayland Man Indicted for Soliciting Sex From a Teen

Undercover police posing as a 15-year-old girl corresponded with the man, police say.

A Wayland man was indicted by a Middlesex County grand jury on June 28, after officials say he tried to arrange a sexual acts with an undercover cop who he believed to be a 15-year-old girl.

Andrew Fitch, 29, of 30 Dudley Road, will face three counts of child enticement, seven counts of disseminating harmful material to a minor, and one count of threatening to commit a crime, said Stephanie Chelf Guyotte, communications director for the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office.

The charges stem from incidents where Fitch was allegedly corresponding online with an undercover Wayland Police officer posing as a 15-year-old girl, Guyotte said, and Fitch allegedly made several comments suggesting the girl meet him to engage in sex acts.

Fitch was indicted after a months-long investigation, said Wayland Police Lt. Patrick Swanick.

He will be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on July 9.

Previously, Wayland Patch reported that police placed Fitch in protective custody after someone reported seeing a person who appeared to be intoxicated riding a bike on East Plain Street.
