Girl, 9, Fatally Mauled By 3 Dogs In Detroit
The owner of the dogs was arrested after the child was attacked while playing outside.
DETROIT, MI — A 9-year-old girl has died on Detroit's southwest side after being mauled by three dogs on Monday. Investigators say three pit bulls escaped from a yard off Central Avenue and Smart Street and attacked the 9-year-old girl in the alleyway.
Two people nearby saw the attack and rushed to help the girl, WDIV reported.
Detroit Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell told the Detroit Free Press that the girl's father was performing CPR when paramedics arrived.

Police said one of the dogs was shot and killed, according to the Free Press, and a brick was also thrown in an attempt to stop the attack.
The owner of the dogs, a 33-year-old man, was taken into custody. A GoFundMe has been set up for the girl's funeral.
