Shelby Basketball League Looks for a Few Good Coaches, Players

The Shelby Township Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for players and coaches.

It’s not too late or early to register your children for the Shelby Township Parks and Recreation basketball team.

After Oct. 1, a $5 late fee to register children for the department’s youth and teen basketball leagues will be applied.

Boys in grades one through 12 and girls in grades one through six can play on teams with others their own age.  The majority of practices and games will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Shelby, but some local school gyms may also be used.

Teams in the two girls divisions, grades three and four, and grades five and six have started practices, but space is available for more players.  The coed division for grades one and two and the boys in grades three and four, and grades five and six will begin in November.  The boys divisions for grades seven through nine and 10-12 will begin in March.

Fees start at $65 to $75 per player, depending on the division.  A late fee of $5 will be added to any registration taken after October 1, and players not living in Shelby Township or Utica be charged an additional $10 nonresident fee.
