The response was unanimous. People did not seem to think fireworks were becoming a nuisance.

Trenton resident Becky Green said her patience was recently tested after someone was lighting fireworks in her neighborhood well after the 10 p.m. noise ordinance.

"A group of us who live by Owen (elementary school) were serenaded with annoying cracks and booms until nearly midnight last night," Green said. "I consider myself a hip young adult, but I wanted to scream 'Get out of here you young punks,' to the gaggle of teens about 20 feet from my front door.'"

Chief Jim Nardone said police have not received an abnormal amount of complaints regarding fireworks -- as of Monday.

"This is a typical year for fireworks," Nardone said. "However, they have lingered later in the night than normal."

Nardone added lighting fireworks after 10 p.m. could result in a misdemeanor for disturbing the peace, which could result in up to 90 days in jail and/or significant fines.
