Trenton Police Arrest 2 Men for Allegedly Stealing Construction Equipment

arrested two men for allegedly stealing a front-end loader parked in Leisure Meadows Condos at about midnight June 16.

A Trenton police officer said he saw a man driving a large piece of construction equipment west on Van Horn Road when he heard a call about a stolen front loader matching the description of the one driving on Van Horn.

The officer said a red GMC Envoy was following within inches of a yellow Case front-end loader on Van Horn near Turner.

Officers pulled over both vehicles. The man driving the construction equipment told police he owned the vehicle and was taking it home, while his friend drove behind him. He then identified the driver of the Envoy by name. The man driving the Envoy said he did not know the man driving the front-end loader.

A witness told police he heard noises and saw the front-end loader being driven out of the complex followed by a dark colored truck.

Both men were arrested and taken to the Trenton Police Department.

The men, Ronald Mims and Jonathan Kosmides, were arraigned June 20 on one count of felony larceny, two counts of receiving and concealing stolen property and one count of unlawful driving before Judge James Kersten at 33rd District Court in Woodhaven.

Both men were released after posting 10 percent of their $15,000 bonds.

The construction equipment was returned to the owner.
