After defeating the New York Yankees on Thursday, the Tigers advance to the American League Championship Series and are one step closer to the World Series.

The Detroit Tigers took a bite out of the Big Apple, and now they are moving on—deep into the heart of Texas, in fact—in the Major League Baseball playoffs.

After disposing of the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series on Thursday, the Tigers will take on the Texas Rangers in the American League Championship Series.

If the Tigers can defeat the Rangers, they will advance to the World Series.

"OH YAY...ROCK ON DETROIT!" wrote Deborah McConnell on Hartland Patch's Facebook, where several nervous fans also weighed in during the game.

And on Trenton Patch’s Facebook page, Ed Huddleston left no doubt about his favorite moment of Thursday’s game: “The reaction of the announcers at the end of the game - they were almost as sad as the Yankee players.”
