5 Things: Colorado First in Nation With Recreational Pot Sales
News meant to inform, enlighten and entertain.

1. Rocky Mountain High, For Real: Legalized marijuana sales commenced in Colorado as of New Year's Day. The first-in-the-nation law was greeted with long lines at retailers and a lot of “Rocky Mountain High” jokes. You can read more here.
2. SnapChat Hackery: The usernames and phone numbers for 4.6 million Snapchat accounts have been downloaded by hackers, who temporarily posted the data online. A website called SnapchatDB released the data but censored the last two digits of the phone numbers. It has since been taken offline but a cached version is still available. You can read more here.

4. T-Minus 10 Years to Mars Colonization: Mars One continues the selection process for planet pioneers to be the first colonists on Mars. The non-profit based venture led by Dutch entrepreneur Bas Lansdorp, plans to send the first colony of Mars explorers by 2024- 2025. The expedition was announced in 2012 and in 2013, the selection process began by accepting applicants for the one-way ticket to Mars. The selection process gathered a reported 200,000 applicants. 5. Frankenpigs Glow in the Dark: Chinese scientists have unveiled a litter of glow-in-the-dark piglets. The team from South China Agricultural University were able to create 10 pigs that turn green under black fluorescent lights, thanks to a technique developed by the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Medicine. The method sees animal embryos injected with DNA from a jellyfish and was used to create the world's first glow-in-the-dark rabbits in Turkey earlier this year.
