Berkeley Council Establishes New Police Salary Ranges
Ordinance spells out minimum and maximum ranges for police positions

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Township Council members recently introduced an ordinance that establishes new minimum and maximum salary ranges for various police department positions.
The minimum salary range for police chief is now $175,000. The maximum is $230,000, according to the ordinance.
The salary for a police captain position ranges from $150,000 to $180,000. The police sergeant position has a minimum salary of $110,000 to a maximum of $140,000.

The salary for a police lieutenant position ranges from 140,000 to 165,000.
The minimum salary for a patrolman is $38,000. The maximum is $120,000.

The ordinance was slated to be adopted at the Dec. 18 council meeting.
