31 Dogs, Puppies Rescued By Somerset Regional Animal Shelter

Among the dogs is one nursing mom with her 8 puppies and another pregnant dog set to give birth this week in Bridgewater.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — It's getting "pretty full" at Somerset Regional Animal Shelter(SRAS) after taking in 31 dogs and puppies from Kentucky.

The dogs were brought to New Jersey after 40 dogs were found living in a trailer in terrible conditions in Kentucky, said SRAS Manager Brian Bradshaw.

To help a Kentucky animal shelter make room, dogs were sent to SRAS on Saturday. Of those dogs, three were from the trailer situation.

And the Somerset County shelter is just going to get more full. Among the dogs taken in was one nursing mom with her 8 puppies and another pregnant dog set to give birth this week, said Bradshaw.

Bradshaw is hoping enough dogs and puppies are adopted this week to make room for the shelter to take in dogs from Florida later this week or early next week to help with the situation following Hurricane Ian.
