35 Cats, 20 Dogs Overflow Somerset Regional Animal Shelter
All of the pets were taken in over the past two weeks. Now the shelter needs the public's help to adopt or donate to help care for them.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Over the past two weeks the Somerset Regional Animal Shetler(SRAS) has taken in 35 cats and 20 dogs. Now the shelter is in need of help to get these pets to their forever home or donations to care for them.
"This is a case of shelters helping shelters," said SRAS Shelter Manager Brian Bradshaw.
Other New Jersey shelters were unable to house or care for these animals so SRAS, a volunteer-run shelter, stepped up to help out.

"We took in 15 cats from Paterson, 10 cats from Plainfield, and 10 from Old Bridge," said Bradshaw.
The cats range in age from kittens to adults and all are spayed or neutered.

Additionally, 20 dogs were flown in from Kentucky on Saturday.
As a result of the influx of pets, Bradshaw is asking the public to help out his volunteers. The shelter, which runs on donations, is in need of pet food and supplies, and monetary donations.
Community members can contribute by purchasing supplies from the shelter's Amazon Wishlist or to make a monetary donation visit srasnj.org/donate.
To see the cats and dogs in person visit the shelter at 100 Commons Way in Bridgewater which is open daily from noon to 3:30 p.m.
