Bridgewater Husband, Dad's 'Zest For Life Was Infectious': Fundraiser Started For Family

David R. Peru, 62, of Bridgewater, died suddenly on Sunday, leaving behind his wife and two sons.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A 62-year-old Bridgewater husband and father of two suddenly died on Sunday. Now the public is being asked to help with funeral costs and college tuition for his children.

David R. Peru, 62, of Bridgewater, was described as a devoted husband to Jennifer for 25 years, father to their two sons, Zachary and Adam, and a true family man. He lived in Bridgewater for 21 years.

"David’s zest for life was infectious. He was the life of any gathering, always ready with a story or a joke to bring joy to others. He loved fishing, fantasy football, college basketball, and gaming with friends, but his happiest moments were those spent with his family, "according to a GoFundMe fundraising page set up for the family.

A GoFundMe with a goal of $10,000 was set up to help Peru's family. All donations will go towards funeral costs and college tuition.

"David was an extraordinary father to his sons, Zachary and Adam, who were his pride and joy. He was their biggest cheerleader, always present at their events, and deeply involved in their lives. He coached and trained them in basketball and assisted them in lacrosse, track and field, and their school projects, always encouraging them to pursue their passions and excel. David was a constant source of inspiration, instilling in them a love of learning, creativity, and the importance of family," according to the GoFundMe.

Professionally, Peru was a trailblazer. He had a successful career in programming and business, working in the semiconductor and banking industries before transforming his father’s model airplane hobby business, BP Hobbies, into a thriving enterprise.

"David’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and creativity. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered," according to the GoFundMe.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg. Committal is private.
