Bridgewater Mayor Mourns Pope Francis: 'Humility, Compassion, Unwavering Faith'

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench has joined a chorus of mourners who are lamenting the death of Pope Francis, who died on Monday at the age of 88.
Francis, who was highly praised for his humble style and concern for the poor, was hospitalized on Feb. 14 for a respiratory crisis that developed into double pneumonia. His last public appearance was made on Easter Sunday, the Associated Press reported.
Moench penned a message of condolence on behalf of the Township of Bridgewater in the wake of the pope’s death.

"It is with great respect and solemnity that we acknowledge the passing of His Holiness, the Bishop of Rome, Pope Francis. On behalf of the Township of Bridgewater, I offer heartfelt condolences to the Catholic community here in Bridgewater, across our nation, and around the world who mourn the loss of their spiritual Father.
Pope Francis devoted his life to the service of God and His people, carrying out his vocation with humility, compassion, and unwavering faith. His care for the poor, his calls for peace, and his reminder of the dignity of every prson, resonated far beyond the walls of the Vatican.
For many, his papacy was a source of comfort and guidance. As many in our communiyt mourn this profound loss, we honor Pope Francis's pontificate and the impact odf his leadership. Our thoughs and prayers are with all those who held him dear and found comfort in his shepherding.
May he rest in peace."
