5 Things You Need to Know

UPDATE: Partnership for Haddonfield will not meet Wednesday.

1. The planning board meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Municipal Hall. The meeting is open to the public.

2. The Partnership for Haddonfield, the municipal business improvement district, CORRECTION: WILL NOT meet on Wednesday as it usually does on the first Wednesday of the month. The Partnership does not meet in August. 

3. Haddonfield Sidewalk Sale – Thursday, August 4 through Saturday, August 6, in addition to Haddonfield’s August First Friday Celebration on August 5.  "The three-day Sidewalk Sale retail event will feature a large selection of Haddonfield’s shops and boutiques setting up along the sidewalks of Downtown Haddonfield for summertime shopping in the sun," according to a news release from the PFH. "An array of shops in Kings Court and along Kings Highway; Ellis, Mechanic and Tanner Streets; Haddy Lane; and North and South Haddon Avenue will set up outdoors, offering savings to shoppers."

4. "She was a role model and arguably the “first” First Lady, and many Americans still associate her with ice cream," according to a news release from the Indian King Tavern.  "Dolley Madison was wife to fourth U.S. President James Madison and did more than introduce ice cream to the United States. To share the rich history that Dolley Madison contributed to America, the Indian King Tavern Museum in Haddonfield, New Jersey, will host acclaimed re-enactor, Elizabeth Michaels. As Madison, she will recount Colonial life as a First Lady from her point-of-view. The open house is scheduled for Saturday, August 6 from 1 to 4 p.m., and she will speak at 2 p.m."

5. "Want to get FREE Jewish children’s books sent to your home? If you have children between 6 months and 5.5 years old, and live in Burlington, Camden or Gloucester Counties, your children are eligible to participate in the PJ Library," according to a news release from the group.  "For more info, or to register for the program, visit www.pjlibrary.org today. PJ Library is a program of the Jewish Federation of Southern NJ, and is funding by the Federation, the Harold Grinspoon foundation, and several other private donors. PJ LIBRARY IS A NATIONAL BOOK PROGRAM implemented on a local level. PJ Library mails free, high-quality Jewish children's books and music to families across the continent on a monthly basis. Today, more than 70,000 families in more than 135 communities in the United States and Canada are able to explore the timeless core values of Judaism through the art and literature of these free children's books."
