Commissioners to Hold a Special Meeting Friday for Kiosk Bid
The meeting at 5:15 p.m. at the Municipal Hall is expected to be wrapped up in less than 10 minutes.
Nearly six hours of meetings Tuesday wasn’t enough time for borough commissioners to complete their work this week. A special meeting will be held on Friday at 5:15 p.m. at the Municipal Hall.
The purpose of the meeting is to award a bid to a parking kiosk manufacturer. The borough plans to use the kiosks to replace more than half of the street meters that regulate about 950 parking spaces.
The borough request for a stainless steel case for the machines has narrowed the choice to a company called Global, with a low bid of $152,450 for 15 machines. The last formality is to actually see Global’s gray, metallic-finish machines on Tanner Street in the historic district on Friday afternoon. The Global machine was displayed last month on Chestnut Street near Lincoln Avenue, but commissioners also wanted to take a peek at them on Tanner Street, the only commercial district in which they will initially be installed.

Once the commissioners give the machines a look-see on Friday, they will go to the Municipal Hall to hold a public meeting with one agenda item: to award a bid for the machines, which is expected to take less than 10 minutes, officials said.
The kiosks are expected to arrive by late summer and be installed by the fall.
