CORRECTION: Haddon Township Native Competes in Miss USA

Julianna White, Miss New Jersey USA, will compete in the pageant Sunday.

CORRECTION: Haddon Township's own Julianna White will represent the Garden State Sunday in the Miss USA pageant from Las Vegas, 9 p.m. on NBC.

The Miss USA pageant winner will go on to compete in the international Miss Universe contest. Miss USA began in 1952 after a Miss America winner refused to be photographed in a swimsuit. Catalina Swimwear in Long Beach, CA, then withdrew its sponsorship of Miss America and created its own pageant: Miss USA.

Donald Trump purchased the pageant in 1996.
