Potter and Ellis 'Cornerstone' of County Road Improvements
County freeholders showcased road improvements in Haddonfield as part of $10 million in current projects.
The next phase of road improvements at Potter and Ellis streets in Haddonfield are scheduled to begin on Aug. 29.
Construction will begin on the opposite side of Ellis Street, starting in Cherry Hill. It will close the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Ellis streets to traffic until it is completed in late fall. Access to Potter Street will continue to be closed from Ellis, but Ellis will remain open with one lane in each direction.
The $2.5 million improvements were showcased Tuesday by three Camden County freeholders as a "cornerstone" of nearly $10 million of road projects currently under way in the county.

"That's something we feel very strongly about in Camden County, making sure the roads are in good operating shape," said Freeholder Ian Leonard, who was flanked by freeholders Louis Cappelli and Scot McCray. "In the next two years we have a very aggressive plan to get construction projects done here in the county."
Cappelli and McCray are running for reelection in November.

The Potter and Ellis project is scheduled to be completed by January. It began in June. Leonard said now was the time to begin the work to take advantage of reduced traffic during the summer.
“In addition to this project, we have scheduled through October a number of roadwork and infrastructure projects throughout the county,” Leonard said. “They include work on Congress Avenue in Oaklyn, Evesham Road in Magnolia, Nicholson Road in Audubon, Browning Road in Bellmawr, Franklin Road in Berlin Borough, Warwick Road in Magnolia, Baird Boulevard in Camden, Ferry Avenue in Woodlynne.
"Schubert and Clements Bridge roads in Runnemede are already under construction as is Sicklerville Road in Gloucester Township. To date this year, we have completed East Lake in Audubon, Washington Avenue in Chesilhurst and Oak Avenue in Lawnside.”
Haddonfield officials weren't aware the Democratic freeholders were in the borough on Tuesday. Mayor Tish Colombi, a Republican, said she wish she had known because she would have praised the job road crews are doing.
