1 Dead, Others Injured After Audi Slams Into Rock Off NJ Highway

The car veered on and off the road multiple times.

MONTAGUE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 21-year-old man died, and two others were taken to the hospital after a crash on Highway 23, State Police said.

At around noon, troopers responded to mile marker 49.2 for a report of a car crash. Nazar Bilous, of Brooklyn, New York, was driving an Audi SUV and tried to travel on a curve when the car drove off the road to the right and hit a large rock.

The Audi then went back on the road before veering off to the right again and hitting a large stump and tree.

Volodymyr-Zakhar Sheremeta, 21 of Brooklyn, New York, was riding in the rear seat and was seriously injured, authorities said. The other passenger was in the front seat and left with minor injuries.

Both passengers were taken to the hospital.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
