Jersey City Named Top 5 Best Cities For Hipsters
The compiled list is based on "23 anti-mainstream factors."

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Grab your oat milk lattes, IPA's and settle in because Jersey City was named among the top five cities for hipsters that aren't Brooklyn in 2021.
The ranking comes from Lawnstarter.com, a lawn care company and blog and the rankings are based on "23 anti-mainstream factors." Some factors include thrift and record stores, farmers markets, bike friendliness, yoga studios and breweries, to name a few.
Jersey City came in at #5 just behind Fort Lauderdale, FL. The top spot was taken by San Francisco. Jersey City made the #2 spot on a smaller sub-list of most art events per 100,000 residents. Jersey City has been working hard to brand itself as a hub for the arts across the Hudson, promoting a street art festival that included national artists, pushing the $72 million renovation of the Lowes theater in Journal Square, supporting an arts incubator space on Morgan Street and backing the newly implemented arts trust fund.

Jersey City will also be welcoming the incoming Pompidou Center. The international museum addition will make the city the first North American museum outpost for the Pompidou Center in Paris.
Correlating with one of the "hipster rankings" café culture is only getting stronger in Jersey City, with new coffee shops and cafés opening seemingly every week, like Cafe Alyce that opened on Montgomery Street and Belle Ame Café that opened in Journal Square.
