Jersey City Offers 3rd COVID Vaccine Dose

A third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is available for immunocompromised people in Jersey City after it was approved by the FDA and CDC.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Immunocompromised residents in Jersey City will be able to get a third dose, or booster shot, of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Last week, both the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved the emergency use authorizations for both the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine and the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to allow for the use of an additional dose in certain immunocompromised individuals, specifically, solid organ transplant recipients or those who are diagnosed with conditions that are considered to have an equivalent level of immunocompromised.

The booster shots have not been authorized for non-immunocompromised individuals.
